Falcon Fraud Protection

Falcon is an automated fraud detection service that monitors plastic card purchases. This free service protects all members who carry a GTFCU/Aggieland credit card or a GTFCU/Aggieland Visa check card. Falcon is on watch 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year helping to prevent the unauthorized use of your card information.

Falcon assigns a “score” to each purchase you make, weighing factors such as time of purchase, physical location, dollar amount, merchant name, even past usage patterns. All of the data analysis is done in a matter of seconds. If the Falcon “score” falls under an acceptable limit, the purchase is approved.

However, if the “score” is too high, the purchase may still go through or be declined entirely if the “score” is unusually high. In either case, Falcon will immediately try to contact you using the home/cell phone number linked to your GTFCU account. Falcon will try to be as brief and un-intrusive as possible when calling. The purpose of the call is to verify the suspicious purchase(s). If you cannot answer the call, Falcon will leave a message.

Falcon’s 24/7 toll-free number is 866-816-6099. If the phone number left on your voice mail does not match this number, it’s not a legitimate message—call the credit union immediately.

If Falcon doesn’t hear back from you within 48 hours of calling, your card will be blocked from all use as a precautionary measure. If Falcon has blocked your card, you may still call them to un-block it or you may call GTFCU Card Services at 800-749-9732 ext. 1005 and we’ll be happy to assist you.

This service is a valuable tool in the fight against fraud. However, in order to benefit from this important service, you must make sure you always maintain proper contact information with GTFCU / ACU. When you move or change phone numbers, notify us in person or in writing so we can update that information. Fighting fraud is a team-effort and working together gives us the best chance of winning the battle.
